Barbra Streisand – Director Filmography Ranking

I don’t think Barbra Streisand is a director I enjoy all that much. The movies all have interesting parts, but in the end I didn’t really connect with any of them.

I’ve still never watched some of her non-directing acting roles (“What’s Up Doc?”, “Funny Girl”, etc.), so maybe those would help me get her a bit more.

Letterboxd List: Barbra Streisand Filmography Ranking

4.

A Star Is Born (1976)

I know she didnt technically direct this, but I try and have at least 4 movies and I think Barbra had enough authorial voice for the end product.

Honestly not really my thing. Only other Star is Born I have watched other than the Cooper one which I liked a lot better.

3.

The Prince of Tides (1991)

Not what I thought this movie was about based on the poster.

Not bad, but also not very memorable.

2.

Yentl (1983)

Maybe the most interesting of the movies. I also use “Papa can you hear me” at least once a week either with those words or adding different words to the tune. So I appreciate that it gave me that.

1.

The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996)

Just realized that my biggest realizations in all four of her movies are the male leads. She gives them all a lot to work with and they are all interesting in their own way.

Bridges is my favorite of the 4 which is why I probably like this one the best. Also because it is the most upbeat and funny.
