Part 2: Countdown of films #50-26 accompanied by other 2023 songs from Albums and Singles I enjoyed.
I’m not someone who receives screeners (although if you are for some reason watching this please feel free to send me links because I will watch them), nor do I live in LA or NY, so there were several films I was not able to catch before the end of 2023.
These include, but are not limited too: Fallen Leaves, Monster, Robot Dreams, Eileen, The Zone of Interest, The Taste of Things, American Fiction, All of Us Strangers, Perfect Days, The First Slam Dunk.
Also many others I just wasn’t able to access or find time for throughout the year (2023 – To Watch) I’m sure if I somehow had watched everything linked and listed my list would be completely different. Also if I waited a month or so to finalize it instead of trying to get it out so close to the new year.
But, I know myself, and I know that if I don’t force myself to finish now I will delay and push off until I ignore it completely. It isn’t something that is important to anyone else, but I love having it as a record to look back on for myself. Ideally that record should be as complete as possible, but nothing is ever perfect. Also, again, who cares, because I like this mostly as a reason to listen to more music and to watch more movies than I would otherwise.
My music choices are more or less as complete as I am willing to get them. I made a playlist that consisted of every new album by an artists I had liked a song previously on Spotify. Also most of the top 150 or so top rated Meta critic albums. As well as the top 100 or so albums from a special rate your music filter I built based on my interests. Also any other random artists I am recommended or hear about during the year.
I also know my musical taste boils down to essentially being “hbo/apple tv end credits song” music, but again, I like what I like.
